With respect to suggestions about the composition of the officer cohort, the Attorney-General believes there is a legitimate case for staffing criteria to be amended to allow the Department of Corrections to take account of the operational realities of an all-male custodial facility and to recruit more male officers for that specific environment where it is justified.
